EMBRACE THE MAHOOSUC WAY! The Mahoosuc Way is a community-driven effort to care for local communities and the environment while providing great outdoor recreation and visitor experiences in the greater Bethel area of western Maine. It takes each of us doing our part to ensure that everyone can enjoy the Mahoosuc area now and in the future. The Four Principles of The Mahoosuc Way are: DISCOVER THE MAHOOSUC REGION Visitors and locals alike enjoy the region’s proximity to Grafton Notch State Park, the White Mountain National Forest, and the Appalachian Trail. Organizations like the Mahoosuc Land Trust, Inland Woods + Trails, and others maintain a growing network of public hiking, biking, and Nordic skiing trails and access to paddling along the Androscoggin River. Our region is home to popular ski areas such as Sunday River and Mt. Abram, and rich cultural and arts community anchored by the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, Museums of the Bethel Historical Society, and Bethel Area Arts and Music. As more and more people come to know and love the Mahoosuc region, it is important to remember that everyone has a role to play in caring for this place and making sure it remains a great place to live and to visit. This program was made possible by grant funding from the Northern Border Regional Commission made available through the Northern Forest Center’s Northern Forest Destination Development Initiative with additional support from the Maine Office of Tourism and Maine Woods Consortium.
