Intro post! I'm Tess Neal, an associate professor & dean's professor of
#psychology
at Iowa State Uni. I study the nature & limits of expertise (including work like
this new paper). I try to understand & improve human judgment - especially among
experts.

A gif with a few images summarizing the content of a new psychology academic
paper, showing that psychologists seek information to try to prove a diagnostic
hypothesis correct (rather than looking for information that they might be on
the wrong track).

Excited for Pamela "Nicky" Sandberg, JD, MS to publish her master's thesis. She
worked hard on it, using a method I'd never used before (Multiphase Optimization
Strategy; Karey O'Hara introduced it to us). The paper is open access (free),
with open data: www.mdpi.com/2076-328X/15...

Great thread about a dietary supplement that a company claimed improves memory
in older adults. It’s a fraud. And the US government went after it. The thread
is from one of the expert witnesses. I abhor frauds that target seniors. If
state AGs want to do some good, go after frauds.
