TO DISTRESS A PREDATOR

Recently, a family member of mine was catfished. It was a very unpleasant
experience, but I hope that I can document the steps I took to mitigate the
risks so that anyone that reads this in the future that may be experiencing a
similar issue can take steps to protect themselves.

Scammers and predators have always dotted the online landscape. Since the early
days of AOL and Netscape, scumbags have been trying to extort money and
resources from innocent people that are using the internet; particularly the
young, the old, and the mentally and/or physically disabled.

A GLIMPSE OF DAYLIGHT

I love technology. It has always fascinated me, with a notable increase in
interest around my 12th or 13th birthday. I would spend hours on AOL, looking
for warez, downloading programs that would allow me to customize Windows, and
learning to take apart and put together the old Compaq my parents gave me once
they upgraded to a newer, faster Dell for the family computer room.
