Overview
How do you get safe water to people in need? You empower them to make it. The
MSR SE200™ Community Chlorine Maker is enabling low-resource communities around
the world to create chlorine for safe water treatment on the spot. It's the
first smart device designed to make a trusted treatment accessible to everyone.
With a simple solution of salt and water, and a bit of power, the device’s ease
of use makes safe water a reality. It’s ready to change lives. It just takes
science... and you.

The MSR Community Chlorine Maker is changing lives with just salt, water, a
battery, and five minutes’ time. By creating chlorine on the spot, it empowers
users to create their own chlorine for drinking water treatment that otherwise
would be unavailable or unreliable. But with 1.8 billion people around the world
still drinking from a contaminated source, this device is needed now more than
ever. Our goal is to deploy 2,500 of these devices by the end of 2017 and get
them into the hands of those that need it most, providing safe water treatment
for 500,000 people around the globe.  We just need to get them out there. That’s
where you come in. Your contribution will help fund the deployment of this
life-changing technology to communities who need it desperately. 





THE SITUATION

The World Health Organization estimates 502,000 people around the world die
from diarrheal illnesses every year. With just a touch of chlorine those numbers
can be reduced drastically. Chlorine is powerful enough to kill disease-causing
microbes, preventing illnesses such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid. The
problem is in low resource settings, chlorine is often unavailable or expensive
due to the difficulties relating to transport and degradation.



With the Community Chlorine Maker, enough chlorine can be created on the spot to
treat up to 200 liters of water in just five minutes. All it takes is a few
simple steps.

Salt: A solution of salt and water is mixed before it’s added to the Community
Chlorine Maker.

Power: The device is connected to either a 12v battery or wall plug.

Start: At the press of a button, the device begins an electrolysis process,
creating chlorine in about five minutes.



Our partners, World Vision and Operation Blessing, are ready, able, and in need
of a minimum of 2500 devices to quickly provide water treatment for 500,000
people. With every device sent, we’re able to educate more low-resource
communities on how to treat their water, giving them the power to control their
own safe drinking water.
