Establishing financial responsibility can be done in the following ways: WASHINGTON STATE'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY REQUIREMENT The Financial Responsibility requirements in Washington include: • Business owners with fleets of 26 or more vehicles can become self-insured. • A licensed driver may purchase a certificate of deposit with a value of $60,000. • $60,000 dollars may be deposited with the state Treasurers office. • A 60,000 dollar liability bond may be purchased from a Washington State surety bond provider. • A licensed driver can choose to purchase car insurance with a minimum of $25,000 per person for injury, $50,000 per accident for injury and $10,000 per accident for property damage. For almost all drivers in Federal Way, purchasing car insurance is the simplest way to demonstrate financial ability to pay for injury or damage due to car accidents even though there are other options. A 30-year-old married woman with a 2012 Nissan Quest would pay $108 per month with American Family, $117 with State Farm or Farmers and $132 with Progressive. * Extended Coverage Extended coverage is the most commonly used car insurance coverage plan. There are higher bodily injury and property damage limit amounts of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident and $50,000 in property damage. Uninsured and under-insured motorist is $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident and $50,000 for property damage. The deductible is $500. Extended level also covers up to $600 for rental car coverage, $75 for towing. A 45-year-old married woman driving a 2010 Toyota Avalon would pay $86 per month with Farmers, $101 with State Farm and $142 with Allstate for extended coverage. * Premium Coverage Premium level is for Federal Way drivers who want worry-free driving and the lowest possible deductible which is 100 dollars. Bodily injury coverage is $250,000 per person and $500,000 per accident. Premium pays $100,000 per accident for property damage. Uninsured and under-insured motorist coverage is $250,000 per person, $500,000 per accident and $100,000 for property damage.
