QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE SERIES

The Johnson & Johnson Nurses Innovate QuickFire Challenge series invites the
millions of nurses worldwide to submit nurse-led solutions, protocols,
technologies, devices and/or treatment approaches.
The nurse innovators with the best ideas will receive up to $100,000 in grant
funding and access to mentoring and coaching from experts across the Johnson &
Johnson Family of Companies to help bring their ideas to life.

(2/4/21) – We’re excited to announce the awardees of the Johnson & Johnson
Nurses Innovate QuickFire Challenge in COVID-19 Patient Care together with the
American Organization for Nursing LeadershipTM (AONL) and the Society of Nurse
Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs, & Leaders (SONSIEL). Learn more about

MENTAL HEALTH QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE AWARDEES

These are the awardees with innovative ideas aiming to improve mental health
care.

 * CHRIS RECINOS, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, NEA-BC
   
   Chris Recinos, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, a nurse executive and entrepreneur at
   Nurse Leader Network in Los Angeles, California developed “Hello Harmony”, a
   texting bot app designed for adolescents that serves as a virtual friend
   through a scenario-based game that helps those in need of mental health
   support. The app intends to help normalize feelings of loneliness, shame,
   fear, and sadness and aims to equip participants with skills and strategies
   to address these feelings.

   TRACY ZVENYACH, PhD, APRN-NP
   
   Bre Loughlin, MS, RN and Tracy Zvenyach, PhD, APRN-NP, the co-founders of the
   health tech start-up Nurse Disrupted in Madison, Wisconsin, developed The
   Care Station with the aim to bridge the health digital divide to connect
   patients and care providers. The Care Station is a low-cost, one-touch video
   connection that ships in a single box and arrives ready to plug in and use at
   care locations to connect people to health and mental health care providers

COVID-19 PATIENT CARE QUICKFIRE CHALLENGE AWARDEES

These are the awardees with innovative ideas aiming to improve COVID-19 patient
care.

 * KATHLEEN MALOUF, BS, BSN, RN-BC, CBC, CSRN
   
   Kathleen Malouf, BS, BSN, RN-BC, CBC, CSRN, is a pediatric nurse at Monmouth
   Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey and is the inventor of the
   IsoPouch, a simple, disposable, transparent pouch that adheres to an
   isolation gown. The pouch can help health workers quickly and easily gather
   supplies and preserve personal protective equipment (PPE).

 * JENNIFER STINSON, RN-EC, PhD, CPNP
   
   Jennifer Stinson, RN-EC, PhD, CPNP, a nurse scientist at The Hospital for
   Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada, leads a team in the development
   of a novel rehabilitation treatment: Pain Rehabilitation Virtual Reality
   (PR-VR). PR-VR aims to develop and implement virtual reality as an at-home
   rehabilitation treatment for adolescents with chronic pain.

 * MICAH SKEENS, PhD, RN, CPNP
   
   Micah Skeens, PhD, RN, CPNP, is a Nurse Practitioner at Nationwide Children's
   Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and leads a team that developed a mobile
   application for capturing the entire symptom experience of children with
   cancer in an interactive and fun interface, enabling personalized
   interventions and care.

   Janet Van Cleave, PhD, Assistant Professor at the New York University Rory
   Meyers College of Nursing, is the Principal Investigator for the Electronic
   Patient Visit Assessment (ePVA©) – a digital health platform for capturing
   patient-reported symptoms of cancer treatment, enabling real-time
   interventions and capturing clinical & quality data for reimbursement.

   and advice from live healthcare providers for expectant mothers and parents.

   Nicole Lincoln, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, CCNS , Advisor for Breegi Scientific, Inc.

   in the development of the Neonatal Intensive Care Incubator (NICI™), the

   limb or digits, is designed for improved self-care and monitoring of chronic
   wounds.

   Johns Hopkins-based Chao Hsing Yeh, PhD, RN developed a nurse-led innovation
   called Wireless Auricular Point Stimulation (APS). This treatment based on
   traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture provides an adjunct non-invasive,
   self-administered, and nonpharmacological treatment.

   Lauren Wright, MSN, AGNP-BC, is the CEO and Founder at The Natural Nipple, an
   innovative solution that improves maternal and child health outcomes by
   supporting prolonged breastfeeding. She is also a PhD candidate at the
   University of South Florida.

   Abby Hess, APRN, DNP, invented a video game app that helps children relax and
