Kasumi Blessing
Founder & Advisor


Kasumi is an expert in Sustainability and Responsible Business Conduct in
particular Business and Human Rights and brings a deep technical knowledge and
practical know-how of implementation of international principles (i.e. UNGPs /
OECD GL).  Kasumi has over 20 years of solid experience in this space, with past
13 years inside multinational companies (Novo Nordisk and Takeda) and
previous 10 years in UNDP and UNICEF.  Kasumi has also been active in Global
Business Initiative on Human Rights (GBI) as a Steering Group member
(2018-2022), advancing business practices among large multinational corporations
in diverse industries and regions, and sharing cross-sectoral learnings with
other companies globally. 

During 13 years of experience in global companies (Group Compliance, Global
Public Affairs and Global HR), Kasumi drove DEI, Sustainability Strategy, CSR,
Compliance and Responsible Business Conduct and implemented international
principles (i.e. UNGPs / OECD GL) at the forefront of global good practices. 
Concretely, Kasumi strengthened governance on human rights risks, integrated
regular human rights due diligence process per UNGPs into Group enterprise risk
management framework and process throughout own operations (over 100 business
units) in Novo Nordisk.  She has also strengthened integration of sustainability
due diligence framework per OECD GL throughout value chains (upstream supply
chain and downstream distributors and customers). Kasumi understand what it
takes to integrate, build and carry out human rights and anti-corruption due
diligence processes and develop internal capabilities over time throughout own
operations.  Kasumi is also experienced in sustainability reporting, as well as
CSR and partnerships with non-profit organiations (NGOs, UN and academic
institutions).  


Prior to working with global businesses, Kasumi worked with UNGP and UNICEF on
global Sustainable Development Goals for a decade, spanning across all
sustainability topics: from environment and climate actions to governance,
anti-corruption, human rights and child rights.  Having lived and worked in 5
countries in Africa, Central Asia and the Pacific, including 2 conflict-affected
countries, Kasumi has real-world experience in complex operational contexts and
is therefore able to conduct heightened human rights due dilgence in
conflict-affected situations.   

Kasumi can bridge perspectives between business enterprises and non-profit
organisations, helping businesses understand international principles and
increasing stakeholder expectations, and helping international organisations and
governments understand what measures can help businesses advance responsible
business conduct in reality. 

To help companies advance in this space, Kasumi demystifies international
principles and regulations, cuts through complexities and translates
requirements into simple processes and practical business actions.
