They also provocatively asked whether OneWorld was created as an attempt by the Russian state "to interfere with the political processes of a foreign country", which we interpreted as a reverse-engineered question which strongly hinted that they'd already arrived at their politically motivated (and dare we say, defamatory) conclusion but wanted to make a pretense of "objectivity" by including our obvious denial in their forthcoming piece. This is our official response to the BBC, and we encourage everyone to share it widely. OneWorld publishes a variety of views from many contributors, which don't necessarily reflect the editorial position of the outlet. Sometimes these views are contradictory ones, which is intended to generate a discussion so that it's easier for our readers to arrive at their own conclusions. Nobody is told what to write, all submissions are voluntary, and all articles that are published are done so with no edits apart from grammatical ones. Moreover, the public sharing of someone's opinion shouldn't be interpreted by anyone else as ""interfering with the political processes of a foreign country" (hereafter "foreign interference") because that stigmatizes free speech. Everyone has the right to share their views about whatever it may be, and OneWorld is always happy to consider publishing rebuttals to the articles that we release if someone submits one to us. It is shameful for the BBC to condemn someone's opinion as "foreign interference" just because it's publicly shared on a non-Mainstream-Media site. There are times when our authors sometimes shared similar observations as your company and even arrived at similar conclusions, such as one of our writers' constructively critical takes on Russian-Chinese, Russian-Indian, and Russian-Belarusian relations, among many others, for instance. If the BBC applies that same standard to itself that it's applying to OneWorld, then those observations and conclusions should also be considered to be "foreign interference" too, which would mean that there supposedly aren't any concerns in any of those bilateral partnerships despite that not being the case at all. We at OneWorld solely aspire to reflect reality as accurately as we can based on how our writers understand it to be, accepting that people perceive reality differently but nevertheless believing that everyone's submissions to us are in good faith and aren't any attempt on their part to abuse our platform for the purpose of misleading others. We aren't responsible for what someone else writes and have a disclaimer on our site saying that their views don't necessarily reflect our platform's own, which is an industry standard. It isn't "foreign interference" for people to share their views about their own countries or the rest of the world on a foreign platform. If it was, then everyone on Facebook and Twitter would be suspected of participating in an American "foreign interference" operation. It's ridiculous to even countenance such an accusation, yet that just goes to show the politically motivated agenda behind selectively applying that standard to OneWorld. We regard your investigation as an attempt to defame our platform and everyone who contributes to it by trying to scare them away from cooperating with us out of fear that failing to do so would make them "foreign agents" per your provocative question about whether our activities amount to "foreign interference". We are thankful that our writers will not be intimidated by this UK-taxpayer-funded effort to get them to self-censor their views in contravention of the free speech principle that your state patron officially purports to be in favor of, and in a sense, we are actually thankful to you too for the global exposure that you're about to give us (and we don't write this sarcastically). If you really thought that our platform was problematic, then the best course of action would have been to simply ignore it, not promote it across the world and make us a household name. You're helping us attract global attention like we've set out to do since day one so that as many people as possible can become aware of our interpretation of what's happening in the world and thus be able to more confidently arrive at their own conclusions about various events. It's ironic that the British taxpayers of all folks are funding this invaluable advertising campaign which we wouldn't be able to afford unless someone decided to do it pro bono for us like you are. Going by your accusations against us, does that mean that the BBC is also supposedly spreading "disinformation" and might even be "interfering with the political processes of a foreign country?"
